How to Find a Flat and Maintain a Tenancy

This six week course has been designed in collaboration with Croydon Council’s SNAP team to assist people currently living in supported accommodation to learn and develop skills to help maintain a home and tenancy in the future. People providing care and support to individuals living in supported accommodation can also enrol.

The sessions will focus on:
- Understanding the different types of housing options (council, housing association, private rentals), tenancy agreements and your rights as a tenant
- How to search for a property and use the Croydon Rent In Advance Scheme
- Furnishing a property, insuring your belongings, how to get your utilities connected and pay for them and looking after your new home
- Living on a budget, managing your finances, debt management and where to access help and advice about money
- Healthy living on a budget
- Returning to paid work –the options, financial issues and finding support to look for a job
