Understanding Care and Support
One-day workshop
Sometimes in life things can go wrong and become complicated and we find ourselves needing the care or support from social services or mental health services.
This can feel quite daunting if we don’t understand how they work, or don’t know about the current policies which decide how these organisation should be working with people in need.
This workshop will help us to understand that social care services are available to us regardless of our background.
However, social care is subject to rules about who may be eligible for support, when this support should be available, and how to prevent people from becoming so unwell that their support needs are increased.
To improve our understanding we will explore the current policy and how this changes the way social services and the mental health trusts will work with us.
We will also explore what happens when things go wrong (safeguarding) and how this may affect our rights.
