2024 is a special year for the SLaM Recovery College team as we celebrate ten years of offering free, coproduced education to support wellbeing and recovery at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, in our local communities and beyond. This milestone would not be possible without the fantastic support of the Maudsley Charity, who provided the funding for the college for many years. Now jointly funded by the trust and as an ‘anchor grant’ of the Maudsley Charity, the college is holding a celebration event at Ortus, on 21st May. Please see the enrolment form and timetable for more information about how to get involved.
Inside this term’s timetable alongside our usual wide range of courses and workshops, you’ll find some exciting new and returning opportunities such as:
- Tour de Park: A Walking for Confidence Summer Challenge
- Volunteering and Recovery
- Tree of Life for Families
- Open Dialogue
- Exploring Self-Employment During Your Recovery Journey
- Finding My Strengths, Values and Skills to Return to Work
- Veterans Moving Forward (in collaboration with Help for Heroes and Camden and Islington, and Inclusion Thurrock Recovery Colleges)
- Expressive Writing with the Royal Literary Fund
- Stand Up, Improvisation and Sounds Great (podcasting) courses with The Comedy School
New Developments:
- In late May, the recovery college team, alongside our peer support and volunteering colleagues, will be moving to Blue Star House in the heart of Brixton. We hope to offer some workshops from meeting space at the new venue in coming terms.
- For the first time in several years, Recovery College courses will also be offered this term at the Bethlem Royal Hospital. Thank you to the generosity of the Bethlem Museum of the Mind for hosting these courses in the Wolfson Room.
Course Descriptions:
All course descriptions are now found on the enrolment form. The recovery college website will be updated after Easter with this information.
Timetable Correction:
Please Note: Understanding Bipolar Disorder (Teams Meeting) is incorrectly listed in the timetable as taking place on Friday 16th July. The correct date is Tuesday 16th July and displays correctly in the enrolment form.
