Hello Students, Colleagues and Friends,
Here are the courses we are running in January 2022. These sessions are all being run online and, except for DESMOND, are open to everybody; you don’t need to have any connection at all to the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
DESMOND: Type 2 Diabetes Education for Self-Management Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed
N.B. Only available for students with a connection to SLaM - either as a service user, a carer, a volunteer, a peer supporter, an Involvement Register member, or a member of staff.
This online group of up to 10 people will be held online, run by two trained educators over four weekly sessions of two hours each (plus a 15min break each session). You will be able to ask questions and clarify information during the course.
Our educators will support you to increase your knowledge and understanding of what having Type 2 diabetes means for you. The atmosphere is always friendly, informal, and very welcoming.

Other Webinars
Some of these sessions are run in the Teams Meeting format, meaning that you will be seen or heard and that they aren’t recorded, so you will have to watch them live at the time they are run. The others, though, are in the Live Event format, where you aren’t seen or heard and so they are recorded. This means you can watch them at a time that suits you over your no doubt busy festive period. Although, of course, it’s always better to join these live as well so you can interact and comment.

This is an opportunity for any current or potential students to have an informal chat with members of the training team about the recovery college and what is on offer. We will be in the middle of the mezzanine at the large table with a banner, so you won’t be able to miss us!
The team members can also support students to complete an online enrolment if they need some assistance. We hope that, as the impact of the pandemic lessens, we can expand this service to all of SLaM’s boroughs.
